The 18th Tour of Sayram Lake (International) Road Cycling Race in Xinjiang, China in 2026 is about to kick off in high spirits. According to the list of participating teams and riders announced by the organizing committee, this year’s event features a gathering of top – tier teams and star cyclists, making the on – track showdown full of exciting highlights.

In the field of multi – day amateur cycling races in China, the Tour of Sayram Lake has always adhered to high – standard race – organizing criteria. With its excellent track scenery and professional race coordination, it firmly ranks among the top echelon of domestic road cycling races, leading the industry in terms of influence and reputation for many years. The lineup of this year’s event has been upgraded again. The sprint powerhouses and climbing strong teams will compete on the same stage, and the outcome of the overall champion is full of suspense.

Full throttle on flat road sprints

The key to victory in the flat road stage lies in the construction of the team’s sprint train tactics and the instant burst of the main sprinters. Teams with foreign riders have a natural advantage on the flat road track.

-Senrui Mengwanjia Sports Ruibao Cycling Team (Numbers 31 – 36): With a well – balanced lineup, outstanding foreign riders, and mature skills in flat – road pulling and controlling the sprint rhythm at the finish line, it is one of the favorites to win the flat – road stages.

– Giant’s joint star cycling team: The team has gathered powerful riders such as Feng Haoran and Chen Yien. Although it lacks top climbers, its sprint tactical system is well – developed, the sprint train is smoothly coordinated, and its ability to score points at the finish line should not be underestimated.

-XDS Team:The team has a large number of participating riders. The overall lineup is inclined towards the flat – road sprint strategy. They are rich in experience in group breakaways and final position – grabbing, and have obvious advantages in overall team battles.

-Phoenix Finisher Jichi Cycling Team:Two-time overall champions of the event and two-time leaders in the sprint points standings, the team has a rich heritage. Its sprint lineup is top-notch. It is not only the dominant force on flat roads but also the strongest contender for the overall championship of this year’s event.

-Merida Norco Cycling Team:Representing the top domestic all-Chinese lineup, it has a hardcore sprinting lineup. Peng Yuantang, the champion of the 2022 event, sits firmly in the team. He can not only compete in flat sprints but also in high-intensity climbing stages, with full comprehensive combat power.

-Dash Stone Cycling Team:An established team known for its sprinting prowess, it has a group of veteran sprinters like Wang Renxian and Zeng Qinglong. With rich racing experience, they have explosive power in the final sprints and are a dark – horse force that cannot be ignored on flat – road races.

Overall, the intense duels in the flat stages of this event are basically dominated by the above-mentioned leading teams. The breakaways from the peloton and the sprints at the finish line are bound to be extremely exciting.

Climbing Stages: A Battle of the Strong

This year’s event has added multiple high-difficulty climbing sections. The climbing intensity in the third and fifth stages is at its peak, causing the overall standings of the event to completely favor climbers. The competition on the track focuses on the riders’ endurance output and power-to-weight ratio. The high-altitude track has become a dividing line for riders’ strength.

– Avenger Yafushi Team:Yang Qianbin and Liang Nuoxuan, the two main riders, have solid climbing skills and excellent long – distance endurance, giving them a great advantage in climbing and seizing positions.

– Senruimeng Wanjia Sports Ruibao Cycling Team:Many foreign riders in the team have both sprinting and climbing abilities and are highly adaptable to complex and undulating race tracks.

– Sichuan Phoenix Finisher Cycling Team:Cheng Liangqiong, He Shuai, Xu Jiawei and other local climbing experts have gathered. They are good at exerting strength on long – distance steep slopes, and their climbing and racing strength ranks among the top.

– Wenquan County Wild Yak Cycling Team: A local ace team, it boasts two high – altitude star cyclists, Tuerongsongjiang · Bulike and Huang Shihai. They are well – versed in the environment of the Sailimu Lake race track. They have unique advantages in high – altitude climbing battles, and the home – field advantage is fully maximized.

– Xidesheng Cycling Team:Shen Junxin and Huang Guanghong are the core climbing riders in the team. They can maintain the team’s performance in climbing stages and make up for the team’s weakness in mountain races.

Jingchuang · Power Box United Team: With two foreign riders paired with the local famous rider Hahelix·Habudeli, the combination of Chinese and foreign forces makes it highly competitive on the climbing track.

– Phoenix Fenice Racing Team:Breaking through the single sprint strategy, the foreign riders also have top-notch climbing abilities, achieving a well-rounded performance in both flat and climbing stages without any weaknesses.

– Merida Norco Cycling Team:The core rider, Peng Yuantang, is in a stable state. After years of experience in the Tour of Qinghai Lake, he is highly skilled at controlling the climbing rhythm and can maintain a stable performance throughout multiple stages of the race.

In addition to a host of well – known cyclists who have been competing in climbing races for years, there are also many low – key but powerful riders in this year’s event. Although they have low exposure, their hardcore climbing abilities can also shake up the race situation and add more uncertainties to the overall standings.

In addition, the Hubei Provincial Teamalso has some hidden masters. The three riders, Su Ye, Lin Binyu, and Gao Liang, have been competing in domestic races for many years. They have rich racing experience and their strength should not be underestimated. They are expected to bring surprising performances in the event.

In this event, there is also a team with a very appealing name – Youwang – Old Guys Showing Photos Cycling Team. Interestingly, there is only one “old guy” in the team, and he is Jiang Enbo, the 43-year-old founder of Hebo brand.

It’s worth mentioning that the oldest cyclist in this race is Chen Xiangyuan, who is 49 years old. Followed by He Bo, a rider from the Hong Kong Attack Team, who is 48 years old. Both of them are well – known figures who have been active on the domestic cycling scene for many years. Being able to compete in a top – level event at their age, the “spirit of the elderly cyclists” they possess, which includes not giving in to age, daring to fight, and loving cycling, is worthy of learning from and paying tribute to by every cycling enthusiast.

Those who can participate in the Bicycle Race around Sailimu Lake are all excellent cyclists. Due to limited space, the highlights of more participating teams and riders will be released later. For more exciting content, please follow China Bike.
