On May 31st, the 2026 China Road Cycling Open (Hengshui Station) kicked off by the shores of Hengshui Lake. As the second stop of this season, the Hengshui Station attracted nearly 1,600 cyclists from all over the country to gather at the “Most Beautiful Wetland in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region” and engage in a fierce competition of speed and endurance on the classic lakeside track. After a whole day of intense battles, the champions of each category were announced one after another, and the event concluded successfully in a warm atmosphere.
On the eve of the competition, from May 30th to 31st, the event’s carnival market was held simultaneously at Jiuzhou Square in Hengshui City, bringing an early summer feast of the in-depth integration of sports, culture, and tourism to citizens and tourists.
The circuit around the lake witnesses speed and passion
The race route starts and ends at the Hengshui Lake Marathon Square and circles around Hengshui Lake, connecting the core landscapes of the lake area.It perfectly integrates the beautiful scenery of Hengshui Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the North China Plain, with the race track. Riders will pass through the rippling lakeside and the lush ecological corridor. While competing at high speed, they can fully experience the unique charm of “the most beautiful wetland in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region”.
The 2026 China Road Cycling Open adheres to the latest competition rules of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and combines the management requirements of the Chinese Cycling Association (CCA) for domestic cycling events. It is the top – level road cycling club competition in China and is a “national – level” event.This event is hosted bythe Chinese Cycling Association, the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Hengshui Municipal People’s Government; organized by the Cycling Sports Center of the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, the Hebei Cycling Association, the Hengshui Municipal Sports Bureau, the Taocheng District People’s Government, the Jizhou District People’s Government, and the Binhu New Area Management Committee; co – organized by the Hengshui Cycling Association; and operated by Tixintongxi (Beijing) Sports Culture Development Co., Ltd.
At 8:20 a.m., the opening ceremony of this leg of the event was held at the Hengshui Lake Marathon Square.Liu Jie, the deputy director of the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau,Dong Xiaohang, the Secretary of the Hengshui Municipal Party Committee and the Mayor of the Hengshui Municipal Government,Niu Xinghui, the Chairman of the Hengshui Municipal Political Consultative Conference,Xie Xiaobin, a director of the Chinese Cycling Association,Cui Haixia, the deputy mayor of the Hengshui Municipal Government,Jin Hongliang, the deputy mayor of the Hengshui Municipal Government and the director of the Hengshui Public Security Bureauattended the event and jointly sounded the horn to start the race.
On the day of the competition, the weather was fine and the wind was moderate, creating good conditions for the athletes. The men’s club group and the women’s
Seven groups, including the elite group and the men’s youth group, started in sequence. In the most competitive men’s club group competition, multiple top domestic cycling teams engaged in fierce offensive and defensive battles.
Finally, with excellent teamwork and strong individual abilities,Magene Technology MBO Team riderHan Xuxiang won the championship of the men’s club group in this stage. The event carnival ignites Jiuzhou Square
From May 30th to 31st, the event carnival market was held in full swing at Jiuzhou Square. Three themed areas were set up on-site: the “Lake City Cycling Traces · Champion Supply Station” jointly launched the champion’s signature energy packs and a wine garden with local time-honored brands; the “Green Future · Cycling Equipment Depot” offered indoor bike trainer PK competitions, test ride experiences, and free repair services; the “High-quality Hengshui Agricultural Products · Specialties Store” gathered special products such as Manhe watermelons and Jizhou peppers under the “One Village, One Product” initiative. Immersive interactions with NPCs became a highlight – “Dong Zhongshu” gave out cultural and creative products by having people solve riddles, “Matchmaker Trumpet Brother” handed out coupons during his parade, and a “Mysterious Champion” took photos with people and gave out signed gifts. Participants could enjoy merchant discounts and receive free souvenirs with their race number bibs. Activities like “1-yuan flash sales” and “Taste of Hengshui” blind boxes (priced at 9.9 yuan and containing various snacks) attracted a large crowd, and the event was also broadcast live online.
The integration of sports and tourism adds another vivid practice
